Caprock Wind reached initial commercial operation in 2004 and was comprised of 80 1.0 MW wind turbine generators. In 2024 LRE began a repowering effort to replace the former turbines with 4.0MW turbines, reducing the number of turbines to 20 while maintaining the nameplate capacity of 80MW. The Caprock Wind repowering is scheduled to be completed by 2025.
