Allegheny Ridge Wind

Cambria & Blair Counties, PA

LREs (Leeward Renewable Energy) Allegheny Ridge Wind, LLC (Allegheny Ridge Wind) is repowering its 80megawatt wind energy facility located on 5,000 acres near Portage, Pennsylvania in Cambria and Blair Counties.

The Allegheny Ridge Wind project began operating in 2007 and is comprised of 40 Gamesa G87 2.0 MW wind turbine generators. The repowering effort will upgrade the existing wind turbine generators to newer, more efficient equipment while generating more clean energy. As part of the repowering, the existing equipment will be upgraded with longer blades on all 40 turbines while the towers themselves remain in their current locations.

The repowering is scheduled to be completed by late 2027. The repowered Allegheny Ridge Wind is expected to operate for an additional 30 years, providing continued significant economic investment to the community, a substantial property tax base for Cambria and Blair Counties, and generate emission-free renewable energy with minimal impact to the land and surrounding community.

The repowering is scheduled to be completed by late 2027.

HOW LONG WILL THE WIND FACILITY BE OPERATIONAL?

With a repower, we expect to extend the life of the project an additional 30 years.

WHO WILL MAINTAIN THE PROPERTY AND VEGETATION?
