World Bee Day 2025

On World Bee Day, LRE proudly celebrates the vital role bees play at our renewable energy facilities. This year’s World Bee Day theme “Bee inspired by nature to nourish us all,” aligns with our ongoing commitment to sustainability in all we do. Two of our renewable energy facilities are home to honey bees, including our Big Plain Solar project in Madison County, Ohio where more than 50 hives house nearly 3 million bees.

Bees are essential for the growth of many plants, including food crops and support increased flowering plants, cleaner air, and the prevention of soil erosion. Bees are just one example of how renewable energy and nature work hand in hand to create a cleaner, more sustainable future. Happy World Bee Day!
