Responsibly Developed and Managed Solar Energy Solutions

With seven solar energy solutions fully operational and an additional three projects in development, LRE is demonstrating that responsibly developed clean energy projects support thriving communities and healthy ecosystems while fueling the shift to domestic energy independence.

Solar energy solutions from LRE are intelligently designed and responsibly managed to generate reliable, carbonfree electricity while delivering positive community and economic impact.

Sustainable Energy Straight From The Sun

Solar is a sustainable power source that plays a crucial role in elevating domestic production and reducing our dependence on foreign energy. Backed by 20+ years of expertise, LRE develops “win-win” solar energy solutions for energy buyers and communities.

RESPONSIBLE DEVELOPMENT

Though function is the primary demand for solar arrays, with strategic planning and careful management, LRE’s solar energy solutions exist in harmony with the natural landscape and everything on it. We collaborate with landowners, ecologists, soil experts, and community planning commissions to design and operate solar projects that complement their natural surroundings.

INNOVATIVE METHODOLOGIES

We apply emerging techniques to design, management, and maintain our solar energy solutions. LRE has various agrivoltaic practices (co-locating solar energy and agriculture) in effect at our operating plants ranging from pollinator habitats at Oak Trail Solar in North Carolina to LRE’s agrivoltaics pilot program at Big Plain Solar in Ohio which hosts both apiaries and sheep.

QUALITY JOBS

Supporting the career trajectories of professionals working in the renewable energy sector is part of our core values. We create quality, growth-oriented jobs across the nation backed by competitive salaries, extensive training, and rigorous safety practices.

AMERICAN-MADE MATERIALS

We prioritize responsibly sourced, domestically manufactured equipment, internally and from all our contractors. U.S.-made materials protect our solar energy projects from supply chain disruptions, supports American manufacturing jobs, and ensures we are using only the highest quality components and equipment.

LONG-TERM OWNERSHIP

Our long-term ownership model means we maintain a stake in the projects we build. By acting with integrity, inviting collaboration, and delivering on our promises, we’ve developed trusted relationships with landowners, community members, suppliers, and employees that contribute to lasting success.

Solar Energy Solutions FAQ

Is solar energy occupying land used for agricultural production?

While many of our solar energy solutions are co-located on agricultural land, the amount of space used for agricultural production still vastly outweighs the land used for renewable energy.

At LRE, we trust our farmers and landowners to know what’s best for their land and their families. We’re proud to partner with them to extend the legacy of their land by “farming” the sun. Many landowners have portions of property that are underutilized or less suitable for crop production. These areas often offer ideal conditions for solar installations. By leasing this land for solar development, landowners can allow the soil to rest and regenerate until decommissioning, when it can be returned to agricultural use. Solar leases not only help keep land in the family for future generations, but they also provide reliable income that many landowners reinvest in their active farming operations.

Does solar energy production damage the environment?

Careful land stewardship is a cornerstone of our operations. Solar energy solutions from LRE undergo extensive environmental studies during the permit process, and we are held to those conditions throughout the life of the project.

Our projects are meticulously planned from the outset to work cohesively with natural landscapes and associated vegetation and wildlife. We collaborate with soil experts, ecologists, community planners, and nearby residents to ensure we gather the appropriate input about environmental impact before beginning development. While there may be a temporary disturbance during construction, there is vegetative regrowth and reinhabitation by many animal species during operations.

Do solar installations have a negative impact on property values?

Careful planning, location selection, and appropriate screening aim to make LRE solar energy projects as unobtrusive as possible for local communities. Numerous studies show that the installation of solar arrays has no negative impact on property values and, in some cases, results in a slight increase in the value of agricultural land that would have otherwise remained unused or used for different purposes.

Are solar energy solutions a reliable source of power?

Sunlight is a vast, inexhaustible, free, and highly predictable resource, making it ideal for low-cost energy production–and its use is not new. NASA has utilized solar panels since the 1980s for spacecraft, including the Hubble Telescope, and solar installations are trusted by the U.S. military to power remote areas. In 2023, Norway installed the world’s most northerly solar plant in Svalbard, just a few hundred miles from the North Pole.

LRE carefully forecasts and selects sites with an abundance of sunlight throughout the year for solar energy installations. Power from the sun is typically generated during peak demand periods, while battery systems at nearby storage co-locations ensure a continuous supply of dispatchable power. As such, solar energy solutions are proven to be reliable sources of energy with minimal outages.

Can the materials used in solar panels leach out and affect the environment or inhabitants?

No. The contents of solar panels are solid (as opposed to liquid or vapor) and encased in tempered safety glass.

Do solar panels produce unsafe levels of EMF, heat, or glare?

No. Solar panels produce DC electricity, which has no EMF radiation. Panels absorb sunlight and convert some into electricity. The rest is released as a minimal amount of heat, but of no safety concern to plants, animals, or humans. Modern solar panels are specifically designed to not reflect light, and LRE solar energy projects incorporate natural shrubbery shields to integrate with the landscape.

Are solar panels able to withstand extreme weather like heat, hail, and snow?

Yes, solar panels are durable and can withstand impact from hail, weight from snow, high and low outdoor temperatures, and hurricane-force winds.

Will solar a solar energy project in my area benefit my community directly?

LRE solar projects create multiple local benefits: economic growth, power returned to local grids, potential reduction in local energy prices, and a pivot to large-scale renewable power.
